Seven years ago we realized that, in order to breed the best showjumpers, we had to select both STALLIONS and MARES not only for their pedigrees but also by performance. To this very careful selection, the best care, feeding and training must be added.
Towards this aim, we selected some SILLA ARGENTINO mares who had shown a very good show jumping performance or were daughters of performing stallions and/or mares. Then we traveled through Europe and selected mares from different EUROPEAN STUDBOOKS, with excellent bottom lines, born to the most renowned breeders. We bought offspring from Bourée (international leader mare with 5 international Grand Prix offspring), from Narcisse (mother and grandmother of many international jumpers and reputed stallions), Dirka (mother of the great Quidam de Revel), Viti (mother of Galoubet A), Laba (mother of Landlord Z), Gazelle (foundation mare of the Haras D'Elle with many Grand Prix horses and excellent stallions as descendants), Rhea Z (full sister of Rinetou Z and with many international Grand Prix horses and stallions in her line), etc., all of them by excellent stallions.
As a STALLION, our very good choice was to buy in France GAFURIO, by Quidam de Revel and with a good performing mother line, an approved Selle Francaise stallion. Then, we imported frozen semen from the best stallions from European Studbooks: Voltaire, Heartbreaker, Concorde, Burggraaf, Royal Feu, Oberon du Moulin, Herr Calando and others. All these stallions allow us the possibility to select what we believe to be the best stallion for each mare.
In 2001, GAFURIO, after a successful campaign was re-exported. So we bought RED DEVIL (KWPN), a son of Heartbreaker with an excellent bottom line.
Our bet was fast rewarded: In 2004, the first GAFURIO crop had an extraordinary performance that prove him as the best young horse stallion in Argentina. In the Breeders Cup for 4 year olds, a championship that qualifies horses by style and prospect, GAFURIO's get classified 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th.
His last generation in Argentina will be offered in the first WINDCREST FARM auction.
Meantime, RED DEVIL is competing in young horse championships showing an excellent style and great regularity and temperament that predict a brilliant Grand Prix future. Although 6 months younger than all his competitors, he was 5th and 4th in the Young Horse Championships II and III, respectively.
His first generation will be offered in the first WINDCREST FARM auction.
We also have a laboratory at the farm, where embryo transfers are successfully performed. This is been done with some of our mares that are still in competition, without having to halt their career. We are able to this because the farm is fully equipped for training: jumping arena, indoor arena, lounging circle, freejunping arena and stalls.
All our foals are handled since birth and are friendly and respectful towards people. Thanks to our mild weather and generous grasses, they live out of doors all year round, eating a natural and balanced diet.
Only when 3 years old they start work and, when 4 years old we start them jumping under the saddle in our arenas. Although we do sell some of our 3 years olds when broken under the saddle and free-jumping, we usually train our young horses and sell them when competing or ready to compete in official tests.
We are only at one hour distance from downtown Buenos Aires and the most important shows: you will be welcome here.
